Israel Found World's Most Valuable Gold Coin

The most valuable gold coin in the world is found in Israel. The archaeologists say they have found gold coins most severe and most valuable ever found in Israel.

This 2200-year-old coin weighs one ounce (28 grams) and is found at the site Kedesh Tel, near the Lebanese border on June 22, according to a statement from the antiquities authority. It is said that the coin six times heavier than most of coins in that era.

Donald Ariel, head of the department of antiquities authority said the coin had come from the Seleucid Empire based in Iraq, though printed by rival Ptolemaic dynasty in Egypt.

He said that the coins probably represent the image of Cleopatra I, wife of Ptolemy V. It was the second Ptolemaic gold coins ever found in Israel. For the former weighs only two grams (0.07 ounces).
